Overview

The Copilot Metrics Dashboard provides visibility into GitHub Copilot adoption, usage patterns, code generation activity, and productivity impact across engineering teams. It helps organizations monitor developer engagement, acceptance rates, AI-assisted coding effectiveness, and the business value generated through Copilot usage. The dashboard is designed for engineering leaders, platform teams, and administrators who need to measure AI coding adoption and evaluate the impact of GitHub Copilot on developer productivity.

Key Performance Indicators

What is it?

A summary section displaying high-level Copilot usage and productivity metrics for the selected reporting period.

Why is it important?

Metrics Included

Active Users Displays the number of licensed users actively using Copilot during the selected period. Active Chat Users Displays the number of users actively utilizing Copilot Chat features. Inactive Users Displays the number of licensed users who have not used Copilot during the selected period. AI Completions Displays the total number of AI-generated code completions provided by Copilot. Agent Acceptance Rate Displays the percentage of Copilot suggestions that were accepted by users. Lines Suggested Displays the total number of lines of code suggested by Copilot. Lines Accepted Displays the total number of suggested lines accepted into the codebase. Lines Deleted Displays the number of Copilot-generated lines that were later removed.

What is it?

Metrics Included

Licensed Total number of purchased Copilot licenses. Active Number of licenses currently being utilized. Inactive Number of licensed users who are not actively using Copilot. Seat Utilization Percentage Percentage of purchased licenses currently in use.

Inactive Count Displays inactivity metrics for users. Hours Saved Estimated productivity gains generated through Copilot usage.
